Supt: Bloodshot Dawn, Inhuman Nature
Review by Deegan Armitage
Monday night saw the epic return of technical death metal band Fleshgod Apocalypse at the Craufurd Arms in Milton Keynes. This was the last night of the UK leg of their Veleno tour. Along side them were British band Bloodshot Dawn and starting off the night was Inhuman Nature.
Up first on the bill were London crossover hardcore band Inhuman Nature who despite playing to a half empty hall were giving it their everything. Thrashing out as many songs as they could in there short 40 minute set and having never heard much of them prior to seeing them live they left a big impression on me. The band were very solid and an excellent start to the evening of heavy music. I personally see big things for Inhuman Nature coming up in the next few years.
Next up were UK Melodic Death metal band Bloodshot Dawn. The bands energy was electric from the second they hit the stage with machine gun like double kick and heavy thrashing riffs along side screaming vocals and a melodic guitar riff some of which are still stuck in my head. Bloodshot Dawn did not disappoint and even though they didn't play their usual full set, being told that they had to wrap it up just after 9pm.
Finally to wrap up the night were the headliners, Italian technical death metal giants Fleshgod Apocalypse. Right from the first track of the night, 'The Violation', it was clear the band were on top form and not letting the fact it was a Monday night in Milton Keynes get in their way and the band expected the same from the audience getting them to chant, clap and cheer and every possible opportunity.
Fleshgod Apocalypse played a fantastic mix of songs from the newer tracks like 'Sugar' and 'Fury' from the new Album Veleno and older songs like 'Epilogue' and 'The Forsaking'. The band sounded equally solid live as they do on record, right down to the grand piano and the female vocalist who sings the melodies and some of the verses in the song. It was all perfect. Despite some sound problems at the start of the set and the occasional blip of the backing track, none of that mattered because the band still kept going and still sounded equally amazing. It being the last show of the tour they certainly went out with a huge bang and left a massive lasting impression on anyone who had just witnessed the great that was Fleshgod Apocalypse.
The band are returning in October on another UK tour, if you get the chance I highly recommend going to see them, you will not be disappointed.
