DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring Tradmrkd

DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Tradmrkd.

Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we found Scottish alt rock act Tradmrkd sat on the beach. This is far from their home, how did they get to our island and how will they cope with the conditions?

How did the band cope with life on Devil's Island? Find out now...

Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.

So you're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

Eddie: Dookie by Green Day for me as I am a simp. Although it was American Idiot that got me into Green Day; Dookie was what motivated me to play music.
Corey: Mine would have to Appetite for Destruction. Every song on it, is class. The whole album is always sounds amazing, no matter how many times I listen to it.
Finlay: I’ve got to go with another classic, Destroyer by KISS. This album is one of my earliest memories of music and will always be my favourite KISS album.
James: Nevermind by Nirvana is mine. Mostly because Smells Like Teen Spirit gives me a lot of motivation and brings back a lot of memories.

Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?

Corey: Screamadelica by Primal Screen just looks amazing
James: Agreeing with Ed but for another reason and say Dookie. The album art is creative and eye catching.
Finlay: Appetite For Destruction. Another one of my favourite albums and I’ve had the poster on my wall for 13 years.
Eddie: It has to be Insomniac for me. It’s a poster I’ve been trying to find for years. Dookie’s album is amazing but there was something about Insomniac that just drags me in.

There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to chose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?

Finlay: Special T or Jack Daniels. Tennants is special T if you don’t know. The holy water.
James: Kopperberg or Strongbow
Eddie: I’d pick special T as well but seen as Finlay has some I’m gonna borrow his so, I’m going to pick Estrella or Morgans and Coke
Corey: I never thought of that. I’m picking Tennants as well but if we are allowed to share i might pick vodka and whatever. I don’t care with what.

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. Whats the merch and for what band?

James: Travis Barker drum stick bag
Eddie: That’s a pretty cool one. Kurt Cobain signed Nirvana T-shirt
Corey: AC/DC devil horns
Finlay: A Prince T-shirt. I’d say we would have the best band merch shop on the island.

You're sat on the island thinking "I'm stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity"... who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?

Finlay: Lana Del Rey
James: Beyonce
Corey: Margot Robbie
Eddie: I see we have all picked women hahaha and I ain’t gonna break the trend. I’ve a major crush on Rita Ora.

There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

Eddie: Green Day at WoodStock 94. I play that live show anytime I can. The mud fight at the end just made me wish I could play festivals and create something that mad. Although, I think health and safety might try and stop me.
James: Twin Atlantic at Trasmt. Especially Heart and Soul.
Corey: I love AC/DC so for me them live at River Plate
Finlay: One of my favourite bands is Metallica so them live in Seattle in 1989.

You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the one musician most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

Corey: Bruce Dickinson. I know he can fly a plane so he could nip down and get us.
Finlay: Sting. I heard he is an expert on messages in bottles
Eddie: Dave Grohl. I don’t know if he has any hidden talents but the journey back home would not be boring at all.
James: Daniel James Platzman. He’s a multi-talented guy.

You've been stuck here for a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

Corey: I’d sacrifice myself, because I’d taste the best
Finlay: Corey because he would taste the best
James: I’d pick Ed as he has the same genes as me.
Eddie: Cheers James much appreciate it haha! Corey as well because we all know he would taste the best.

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

James: If this dessert island was real, it would be lit af. My biggest influence is Phil Collins
Corey: The great man himself, Johnny Marr. Love the Smiths.
Finlay: Duff McKagan. One of the most influential bass players for me
Eddie: My greatest influence and hero will always be Billie Joe Armstrong. I would not be doing music without his work.

Sadly there is no room on our boat, and we leave three of the lads sat on the beach as we leave. Corey was not with them, we suspect the other three have already sacrificed him for the good of the group. Whatever it is they are cooking on the open fire, it smells good.
