Album Review: Launch Control - Attention Economy
Reviewed by Dan Barnes
Attention Economy is Reading-based socio-political punks Launch Control’s fourth extended player and features five tracks outlining the currently woeful state of the world. Clocking in at a mere thirteen and a half minutes, Attention Economy is filled with pissed-off punk attitude delivered atop driving guitar and infectious rhythms.
The title track, Cult of Ignorance and Paper Tiger deliver the goods, wrapped in skate punk stylings reminiscent of Bad Religion or Anti-Flag. Opener Zombigots lulls you into a false sense of security by beginning proceedings with some comforting acoustic strums before hurling headlong into the mayhem.
The final and longest track on the EP is Marketing for Martyrs, a multifaceted construction that shows Launch Control are anything but one trick ponies railing against the system.
Short, sharp and poignant - Attention Economy is a sure and certain reminder, should you need it, that Punk’s not dead.
