Album Review: Sanguisugabogg - Tortured Whole

Let me just start by saying that if your senses are offended easily, Sanguisugabogg are certainly not for you, even more so if you hated Lars Ulrich’s St. Anger baked bean can snare sound!

These guys were recommended to me a while back when they released ‘Dead As Shit’ and I mean this in the nicest possible way but I couldn’t help but laugh to myself in places! There are moments where it is just fully ridiculous and, I think, fully intentionally ridiculous too! There’s a time and a place for this music and take it from me, it is not in the car with your girlfriend when all she wants to do is admire sunshine and daffodils!

Guitarist and songwriter, Cameron Boggs recently did an interview with The Razors Edge and explained that a lot of the music is written under the influence of acid and mushrooms but the band don’t perform live when they’re tripping. Don’t or can’t?! I don’t think they have much choice in the matter! Hold the acid, this stuff blows my brain off and I’m only dosed on co-codamol!

Anyway, ‘Tortured Whole’ boasts some of the best song titles ever put on record with ‘Dick Filet’, ‘Mentrual Envy’ and ‘Felching Filth’ and is a full on ear raging, headbanger fest! Kind of the death metal equivalent of a full season of Rick and Morty brought to life in B-movie glory! What else can you expect from a band that named themselves a Blood Sucking Toilet? Despite its grossness, you can totally imagine partying with this album on full blast, whether you’re off your tits or not.

In summary, this is a killer record to blow your ears out to and next time THAT friend says “I like to listen to all kinds of music!” sit them down with a nice cup of tea and play them this album at full volume and watch them squirm under the monstrosity that is Sanguisugabogg!

Also, can someone please get Devin Swank a pack of Strepsils?!
