Bloodstock Bound: Godeth
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and Jägermeister stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Godeth!
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Godeth: We are a heavy 5 piece metal band reigning from the heart of Yorkshire, Leeds.
First of all we have Miles Case-Watson, our lead Vocalist who brings all elements of a frontman you could desire. We have Dylan Walters on rhythm guitar, who delivers with a ferocious attack. Danny Campey the man behind the drum kit, bringing in mighty grooves and mind blowing footwork. On lead guitar we are blessed with Luke Dyde, displaying evil melodies and haunting guitar leads. Last but not least we have Jimmy Johnstone, the bassist who knows know bounds and cannot be contained to the stage, all the while keeping that low end pummelling away.
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your style of metal?
Godeth: We are a mix of metalcore, hardcore, death and groove metal. Whilst we want fans to lose their minds to the aggressive music we display, we also want to bring out as much emotion as possible to anybody listening.
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Godeth: We took part in the Leeds M2TM. It was a very short notice thing for us, as we recently found our new vocalist Miles, just weeks before the competition began. We all went to watch one of the first heats and we were persuaded to enter by friends and the hosts. Our first three shows with Miles consisted of the quarters, the semi’s and the final. We were blown away by the response we got in each round but the semi’s and the final were out of this world. With that we were lucky enough to hear our name be called out as winners.
The Razor's Edge: How tough was the competition this year?
Godeth: Having taken part in M2TM a few times prior, we were blown away with the talent that this years competition had to offer. A cacophony of genres all after that new blood stage, its for sure a daunting feeling. But it gives you a drive to want to do better and play your heart out.
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Godeth: Simple… Everything. Any local metal band who wants to go somewhere aims for this as a stepping stone in the right direction. To reach a bigger audience in a huge setting, on the same bill a some of the biggest bands in the world. Simon Hall does this every year and is giving this possibility to people like us who want to play original music to big crowds and we couldn't thank him enough.
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Godeth: We play half an hour of pure anger, expect the unexpected. We make it our goal to put on a captivating show that will leave you longing for more. Mosh pits, circle pits, walls of death.
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Godeth: Sunday 13th of august. Which has now sold out (MENTAL)
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Godeth: There are plenty! We will be seeing a few of our favourites and also supporting other bands on the new blood stage. We all want to see different bands but just to name a few…
Dylan: Knocked Loose, Meshuggah, Pest Control and Megadeth
Jimmy: Knocked Loose, Street Solider, Extort, Zeal and Ardor
Luke: King 810, Killswitch Enagage, In Flames
Danny: Helloween, Fit for an autopsy, Decapitated, Sepultura
Miles: Knocked Loose, fit for an autopsy, Biohazard
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first stepping stone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Godeth: We are releasing a brand new track just two weeks before Bloodstock called Solace, this commences our Path of Destruction through bloodstock, where we hope to cause enough carnage that we will be placed on the Sophie stage next year. After bloodstock we will have our nail biting EP set for release and we will be gigging up and down the UK meeting new people to share this journey with.
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Godeth: We will be with the fans staying in Valhalla for the duration of the festival. Come say hello!
The Razor's Edge: You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?
Godeth: A concoction of whiskey, rum, jäger, beers and cider. With a helping hand of H2O throughout!
The Razor's Edge: See you at Bloodstock in a few weeks!
Godeth: See you there. Be sure to check us out!
