Bloodstock Bound: Past The Fall
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and Jägermeister stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Past The Fall!
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Past The Fall: We’re Past The Fall, a 3 piece Metal band based out of Cambridge UK. Will Wright on Vocals and Bass, Thomas Cope on Guitar and vocals, and Sebastian Fernandez on Drums.
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your style of metal?
Past The Fall: For the quick genre orientation, fans of Melodeath, groove metal, thrashy metal, with touches of grunge and prog should enjoy us!
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Past The Fall: We pitched Simon Hall at Bloodstock with our press kit and history to date and he gave us the opportunity to play. Refreshingly simple!
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Past The Fall: As a UK band it’s a pretty big deal, as I think we all hold a special place for the history of UK metal festivals as being some of the best out there, and Download has mutated a lot from the Monsters of Rock days, so Bloodstock I think carries the spiritual torch of the UK metal fans more as its more based around us real nutters haha. As fans, it’s quite special as we’ve slummed it out in the mud in the early days as kids when it was much smaller, and we’d be camping next to Benediction! So it’s so cool to see what it's turned into and be a part of that.
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Past The Fall: First off, the sound is huge on a purely aesthetic level, but the songs have been written as the first priority (not our egos) so each track is quite unique, Thomas is one of the best guitar players in the country right now and his solos are incredible and focus on beautiful lines rather than tricks. We use twin vocals that cover the gamut of brutal screaming to soulful singing, while also intertwining a la AIC.
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Past The Fall: Sunday!
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Past The Fall: My top 5 is probably (in no particular order), Megadeth, Sepultura, Ugly Kid Joe, Meshuggah, Zeal and Ardour.
The Razor's Edge: Playing the Jager Stage is just the first stepping stone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Past The Fall: We’ve had our debut album out for over a year now, and so we’re beginning to work on new material, and we’ve decided to release in a slightly more modern/left field way that connects and gives more to the fans so we’re pretty excited about that, as well as lining up some cool festivals and shows for next year!
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Past The Fall: We will be camping! Although I’ve just moved to near Derby, so it’s almost a home show for me!
The Razor's Edge: How many Jager shots will you be consuming over the weekend?
Past The Fall: For me- none! I’m tea-total recovering from a drink and drugs addiction, so Thomas and Seb will have to hold down my share- they might have their work cut out as it used to be a lot haha! Hopefully we can raise a few toasts regardless of the contents to all our new and old friends! See you there!
The Razor's Edge: See you at Bloodstock in a few weeks!
Past The Fall: Cant wait!
