Bloodstock Bound: Swarms
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and Jägermeister stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Swarms!
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Swarms: Crawling out of the abandoned coal mines of County Durham, comes a band that brings carnage to every venue they play!
SWARMS!
Combining fat riffs with heavy breakdowns, groove and a dash of humour! Swarms are guaranteed to make you bang your head and practice karate in the pit! Mick English on vocals, Daz Barnes and Jordan Giles on guitar, Craig Hepworth on bass and Keith Wilson on drums!
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your style of metal?
Swarms: Definitely for fans of hardcore/breakdowns. If you like Knocked Loose, Bodysnatcher, Spite, Street Soldier you’ll enjoy us!
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Swarms: We won the Newcastle M2TM competition.
The Razor's Edge: How tough was the competition this year?
Swarms: Extremely tough, the metal scene in the North East is getting stronger every year!
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Swarms: It still doesn’t feel real! We put in a lot of graft to create the music and performance that we do and to finally get that pay off is amazing. A couple of us entered in the past in other bands, then in 2020 swarms entered but covid stopped that from happening.
It definitely means a lot to finally get that opportunity!
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Swarms: Tasty riffs, heavy breakdowns, chunky bass! We love to have a laugh so theres some humour in there! Get ready for some WWE moves in that pit!
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Swarms: Saturday!
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Swarms: Killswitch Engage, In Flames, Heaven Shall Burn, Knocked Loose, Meshuggah, Megadeth, Sepultura, our boys in Street Soldier, Pest Control, Biohazard!
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first stepping stone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Swarms: We’re in the middle of recording our first EP which we’re hoping to release for September!
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Swarms: We’re 50/50, some of us are and some have gone into the artist camping!
The Razor's Edge: You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?
Swarms: A lot of IPA and Jagerbombs!
