EP Review: Putridity - Greedy Gory Gluttony

You will certainly find it hard to find a band more obscenely brutal than Italy's masters of the art Putridity. We are talking proper brutal death metal here, not generic cookie cutter “slam” the band combine sheer punishing speed with balls to the wall barbarity really leaving no stone unturned with how they craft their music. Greedy Gory Gluttony is a EP release coming again via Willowtip Records who have been responsible for the band's last couple of full lengths along with a repress of their debut.
Greedy Gory Gluttony finds the band looking to treat fans with a sneak peak of what is to come as they prepare the next full length release which will have the title Morbid Ataraxia, along with them looking at the past. Let’s look at the future first as Greedy Gory Gluttony offers two brand spanking new tracks which give you a dose of lightning riffs, insane drums and inhuman savage vocals. The production on these tracks has also stepped up as it’s got a slicker and thicker sound without losing its charm.
In between the 2 new tracks Putridity have done a couple of new recordings from the earlier back catalogue of material and again with this much slicker production. My only real gripe with the re recordings is the track Fermented Entrails which originally featured on the bands debut “Mental Prolapse Induced Necrophilism” I was not a fan of this record back in the day and the new version does nothing for me either. Finishing the EP is a cover of the Cannibal Corpse track Ecstacy in Decay (which features on the 1998 Bloodthirst album). It’s a cool cover however hearing Putridity reel in the drumming does sound odd however I must say.
This is a cool EP and Putridity continues to deliver the goods when it comes to creating monstrous death metal. The new tracks sound really solid and give the fans something to get your teeth into while we wait on the next full collection of material.
