Bloodstock Bound: By Virtue Fall
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and EMP stages at this years event.
Today we chat with By Virtue Fall
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
By Virtue Fall: We’re By Virtue Fall, a metalcore band from Norwich UK. We are Matt on Vocals, Traf & Royse on Guitars, Gamble on Bass and Burton on Drums!
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your sound?
By Virtue Fall: Our sound blends elements of Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive, The Ghost Inside & Machine Head. We often get unexpected comparisons thrown at us though so come see us and let us know yourselves!
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
By Virtue Fall: We were lucky enough to win this year’s East Anglia Metal to the Masses competition. There was some serious competition, but we managed to win our heats, semi-final & final, and here we are!
The Razor's Edge: How tough was this years M2TM competition?
By Virtue Fall: M2TM East Anglia 2024 was probably one of the best showcases of local talent we’ve seen over the last 10+ years of the competition. Every band, at every stage, put it all out there so to make it through our heat, semi-final & final as winners was immense!
Shout out to Chris, Dan & Rory who put on the EA M2TM for their support throughout and since the final.
We’re grateful to have made some friends with other bands throughout the competition this year and are hoping we can keep the momentum from this year’s competition to put on some more cracking shows into next year.
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
By Virtue Fall: Bloodstock is a festival that not only celebrates but supports new music so for an unsigned band like us to be given the opportunity to show what we can do in front of a whole new audience is something we’re hugely grateful for.
To share a bill with some of the biggest names in metal is literally a dream come true.
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
By Virtue Fall: Expect an energetic show filled with fast riffs, melodies and huge breakdowns so there’s plenty of opportunities for chaos in the pits!
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
By Virtue Fall: We’re playing on Friday and we couldn’t be more excited to smash our set and join the rest of the festival in enjoying ourselves for the rest of the weekend!
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
By Virtue Fall: We could list out the whole line-up but Architects, Clutch, Green Lung & Malevolence are our must-sees!
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
By Virtue Fall: Our new single, “Abandon Hope”, will be released in the weeks before Bloodstock with the full release of our 7-track EP expected to drop in Autumn.
We have some cool hometown shows coming up as well as getting out around the country to places we’ve not gigged before!
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
By Virtue Fall: Yeah definitely, we’ve got loads of friends and family coming to support us so will be camping all together, but we haven’t decided where yet…! Look out for the By Virtue Fall flag, come say hi!
The Razor's Edge: It’s festival weekend, what’s your food vendor of choice on site?
By Virtue Fall: Anything that comes in a wrap or pasty, top-tier food delivery methods. Contents to be confirmed
