Bloodstock Bound: Crowgod

As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and EMP stages at this years event.

Today we chat with Crowgod

The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.

Crowgod: We’re Crowgod bro. An alcoholic, a slag, witch and pizza express boy. We play progressive sludge metal

The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your sound?

Crowgod: Groovy sludge with an unhinged attitude.

The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?

Crowgod: We ended up in Kent M2M, outside of our home turf of Brighton, and the crowd at Leo’s Red Lion vibed a lot with our sound and performance. Big up Willsky, Big Stu & the judges. Our trips to Kent will always be remembered fondly <3

The Razor's Edge: How tough was this years M2TM competition?

Crowgod: There were some great bands playing M2M that were a pleasure to hear for the first time like Sun Messiah, Iron Slug, and Pointless Intent. Will love to play with all of them again!

The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?

Crowgod: It’s a biggie for Tom (drums), because Architects are the reason he plays metal! Mel (bass) has been listening to Opeth and Igorrr for years and is stoked to just play at the same festival. Alana (vox) has been attending festivals since in the womb so it’s a dream come true to finally be playing a major one. Mat (guitar) feels like a proud parent because he founded Crowgod and the current lineup is such a lucky constellation of stars aligning to make it into the special thing it is today.

The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?

Crowgod: Four humanoid crows who like to flap about a lot on stage and turn it up to 11.

The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?

Crowgod: Sunday 11th Aug 2024 (RIP Mel seeing Korn in LDN)

The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?

Crowgod: Opeth, Architects, Igorrr, Soen, Whitechapel, Carcass, Malevolence, Cultura Tres, Clutch, Deicide!!

The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?

Crowgod: We’re using a nuclear reactor to kill everyone before sending love and a positive message. Basically, we’re bringing Fallout and starting our own cult.

Oh, and our debut album will be out in November. Probably.

The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?

Crowgod: Are you stalking us?

The Razor's Edge: It’s festival weekend, what’s your food vendor of choice on site?

Crowgod: Whoever’s got the mac and cheeeeeeeese. Alan’s vegan, so some tasty meat-free treats would be bangin’. If there’s any dumplings that would be dope… and Mat runs on pretty much just beer, so… beer for him.
