When you hit the play button on this one, you are greeted by a grating, irritating noise before you are transitioned into something dark, evil and sinister. A news commentator reads aloud her report of “clandestine rituals” and “satanic cults”, and I can feel myself smiling and getting ready to be wowed by the one and only Mutant Sex Demon.

You are then hit by one of the dirtiest, greasiest bass lines you are likely to hear this or any other year!!! “Filth Metal Warriors” encapsulates everything that I wanted this album to be when I asked to review it. It’s a one-man solo project from Lord Warmoon, whose aim is to produce “perverse, filthy black n` roll” and he does it oh so well. “Hellbound” has a straight up vomit sound at the start to accompany that sumptuous bass again and then the rhythm kicks in.

The album has no pauses, and no let ups across the twenty seven minutes of mayhem and madness. The vocal screams out time and time again, whilst the music has elements of speed metal and hardcore punk all wrapped around the filth of Finnish black metal. It really is an absolute joy to listen to. “Blood Claws of Hatred” is another example of the madcap nature of the writing and production process inside his Lordship’s mind, but the mid paced tempo drags you closer to the depths of hell itself, with villainous laughter injected into the rhythm.

The intensity is back again for “Rider of Devil’s Tongue” with a rapid drum beat alongside a hugely miserable riff, that is so delectable on the ear. The cauldron has been well and truly stirred up with this collection of songs, and produced tracks that are unpleasant and nightmarish, but ultimately, you will be revelling in their bleakness. And if “Whipmaster” doesn’t excite you, then nothing else will. It’s a barnstormer of a song, that sees 80’s rock n` roll combined with black metal, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Mutant Sex Demon has promised us “serial killers, sluts and Satanic cults” and “Cutting Through” has this and so much more. The epic “Too Fast for Life” has an energetic rhythm, with lots of vomit noises spewed over the top, and it’s catchy as hell. “This rock musician says he has more power over your children that you do” says the reporter at the start of final track “Vomitose (Bite it)”. It has a few more snippets like this, poking fun at people who probably think this music leads to the devil. Well, I have news for them, it does!!! But boy, it’s one hell of a fun ride and this album is all the evidence you need of that.
