Bloodstock Bound: Symbyote

As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and EMP stages at this years event.

Today we chat with Symbyote

The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.

Symbyote: We are Symbyote, from London. We have Dan Evans (ex Worship The Sacrifice) on vocals, Borys Burczyk and Dan Scoffield on guitars, Scarthee (ex Deep Throat Trauma and Designs of Chaos) on bass, and Harry Loftus on drums.

The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your sound?

Symbyote: Deathcore, but with elements of Death Metal, Hardcore and Black Metal.

The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?

Symbyote: We entered in Londons Metal 2 The Masses and ended up winning the final.

The Razor's Edge: How tough was the competition this year?

Symbyote: Incredibly tough, we where up against bands who not only are we genuinely fans of, but who are also at the top of their game. At any point in this competition it could have gone any way.

The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?

Symbyote: It means the whole world to us. We’ve been a gigging bands for about fourteen months now, only seven with Harry, and to be playing this legendary festival is something we’ve always wanted to work towards.

The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?

Symbyote: Breakdowns, insane vocal flows and riffs. We’ve been described as raw, rough and ready, and started gaining a reputation for how we sound live so you know Bloodstock is going to be insane.

The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?

Symbyote: Saturday, but definitely check out the other bands on the Newblood Stage throughout the weekend, there’s some insane talent this year!

The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?

Symbyote: Heriot, Breed 77, August Burns Red, The Machinist, Trivium, The Five Hundred just to name a few.

The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?

Symbyote: We want to start playing more shows all over, we’ve started to branch outside of London so our next step is to conquer England!

The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?

Symbyote: Sadly because it's sold out three of us will be camping in the artist camping, but Dan S and Scarth will be in Valhalla.

The Razor's Edge: You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?

Symbyote: Dan and Harry don’t actually drink, so Dan will be on Monster and Harry will be on soft drinks for the weekend, but the rest of the lads will be on the beer (and hopefully water too!).

The Razor's Edge: See you at Bloodstock in a few weeks!

Symbyote: We’ll see you there! Cannot wait to decimate that stage!
