At KK’s Steel Mill in Wolverhampton, Thursday night belonged to Asomvel as the band filled KK’s Lounge room for a night of pure rock and roll!

Before the headliners took to the stage, Devere had the task of firing up the crowd. Their set was tight, riff-laden and energetic enough to win a few nods of approval from early arrivals, but the crowd was clearly saving most of its energy for the main event.

Asomvel wasted no time, storming into ‘Louder & Louder’ with the kind of urgency that defines them. The sheer volume rattled the venue, a baptism by fire that set the tone for the rest of the night. ‘Born to Rock ’n’ Roll’ and ‘If It’s Too Loud, You’re Too Old’ followed in quick succession, songs that double as statements of intent. This was no polished theatre performance; it was a gritty, unapologetic celebration of heavy rock ’n’ roll in a style the big man Lemmy would have been proud of.

The band hit their stride with ‘Beware the Full Moon’ and ‘Payback’s a Bitch’ a perfect mix of ferocity and swagger. By the time they crashed into ‘Take You to Hell’ and ‘Stone Cold Stare’, the pit was alive, fists were pumping, and the crowd was locked in. The middle of the set leaned heavier, with ‘World Shaker’ and ‘Luck Is for Losers’ channelling that no-frills Motörhead-esque aggression that has long been Asomvel’s signature.

There were no dips in energy. ‘Outside the Law’ and ‘Stare at Death & Spit’ were delivered like sledgehammers, bass pounding through the Steel Mill’s walls while the guitars carved out thick, meaty riffs. The closing stretch was all fire; ‘True Believer’ had the crowd shouting every word, ‘Light ’Em Up’ roared with defiance, and ‘The Nightmare Ain’t Over’ left the room buzzing with electricity, a final statement that this band has no interest in subtle exits.

Asomvel aren’t about reinvention, their show is loud, raw, and relentless, exactly what their fans crave. It’s rock ’n’ roll stripped of gimmicks, just sweat, riffs, and attitude.
