DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Electromancy
Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.
This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we find Electromancy sat on the beach. The island is far from his home, so how did he end up here and how did he cope with life on Devil's Island?

Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.
So you're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?
Oh snap, ships a sinking! Well I dive off I’m going to quick and grab Ihsahn‘s After. It’s a perfect mix of emotional vulnerability and powering awesomeness, traditional riffs you can get behind and boundary pushing shit like saxophone everywhere. I love it. The voidlings (those are my manikin bandmates) despite each being tethered to their own instrument are all kind of like one mind together., so they will choose Dan Deacons Bromst because they like experimental shit.
Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?
I’m hanging up a poster for Speedwolf’s Ride with Death! It’s 1000% epic. The voidlings will be hanging up Cough’s Ritual Abuse, But not just the front cover, they are actually focusing on the centerfold of the vinyl. It’s just gorgeous.
There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?
The darkest of your dark beers, this doubts that you hold up in the air and can’t see through because they look and taste like tar. Round of those for all of us.
Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?
I fucking love experimental merch, so I will definitely be bringing with me Beyond Creation’s hair care product line so that my lovely locks are looking fresh on this island. I could probably use it to grease the robots too.
You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?
My loving partners Kmo & Kenzie. They would be the most fun people to be stuck anywhere with.
There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?
I’m listening to the first time I saw Amenra live. To this day still one of the best shows I ever saw, and I was barely familiar with the music at the time. Something about that band, I tried listening to their recorded albums and they just don’t catch me, but all of their live shows are hallowing - And I mean that in the highest praise.
You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?
I’m sending that shit to Joe Duplantier of Gojira. All of the shit they have done with activist group Sea Shepards means they’re the artist I most trust to have access to a boat to come save our butts.
You've been stuck here for a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?
I am eyeing voidling manikin on the left on drums. Something about the way the fiberglass shines really makes my stomach growl.
Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?
Out of the water I pull Devin Townsend! Both his music and the way he expresses himself outside of the music, it’s just so fall. It’s hilarious and ridiculous and real and thoughtful and stupid and wise, it’s everything in an honest way. I admire that greatly, and his humility has really inspired me.
