Bloodstock 2022: Introducing - Collapse The Sky
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and Jägermeister stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Collapse The Sky!
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Collapse The Sky: Hello! We are Collapse The Sky from Norwich, UK. Featuring in this jovial quintet is Lee Margaillan on vocals, Flynn Green and David Lawrence on guitars, Karl Morse on Bass and Luke Fowler on drums.
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your style of metal?
Collapse The Sky: We tend to describe ourselves simply as a metal band without committing to a subgenre where possible. We do experiment with and combine multiple styles and elements of metal. We won’t be afraid to mix in some thrashy riffs, with some slow beatdowns and then dust it off with some shred solos for good measure.
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Collapse The Sky: We won the East Anglia region of the M2TM competition.
The Razor's Edge: How tough was the competition this year?
Collapse The Sky: There were some great bands in the competition, and it was fantastic to see how strong the metal scene is in the east of England right now. The M2TM final was a fantastic gig, regardless of the fact it was a competition, and some of those bands will no doubt be future M2TM winners as well.
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Collapse The Sky: It means so much to us. It’s a place we’ve wanted to get to for a while now and we are so excited to bring what we do to the New Blood stage.
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Collapse The Sky: We’ve released a new album this year (White Flags) so will be playing a good amount of material from the new record as well as some of our older foot tapping classics. We like to make our performances as inclusive as possible to everyone watching. We’ve ended up crowd surfing on inflatable pizzas, sharks and crocodiles before so who knows what could be next .. do they do inflatable caterpillars?
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Collapse The Sky: Saturday 13th is when we perform.
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Collapse The Sky: There are so many bands we hope to see. Would love to see Sylosis, Jinjer and Lamb of God in particular.
The Razor's Edge: Playing the Jägermeister Stage is just the first stepping stone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Collapse The Sky: We want to get out and play as many shows as possible, meet new people and have a great time. We have also started to write some new material so are very excited to see where our sound progresses to next.
