As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and Jägermeister stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Soothsayer!
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Soothsayer:The five points of the star are created by Con Doyle using guitars and voice, Marc O'Grady using guitars, Líam Hughes using voice and sounds, Pavol Rosa using bass and Sean Breen using drums... We are The Soothsayer, hailing from the South of the Emerald Isle.
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your style of metal?
Soothsayer: The Soothsayer creates a heavy torrent of doomed misfortune. At times we manifest our frequencies within the sludgy depths, other times we manifest upon the blizzard-ravaged mountain, high above. You are invited to join us and assist in the scavenging for faint rushes of glimmering hope amongst the blackened ether.
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Soothsayer: Word of The Soothsayer passed lips and now we prepare for our journey.
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Soothsayer: Bloodstock is a festival that has been on our collective eye for some time so it means a great deal to have this opportunity. We look forward to summoning The Soothsayer at this most prestigious gathering.
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Soothsayer: People can anticipate an intense and furious invocation of light within a dark space that is heavy, dense, ritualistic, emotive and at times, hypnotic. You will experience true emotion and true expression.
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Soothsayer: We shall be performing on the New Blood Stage on Saturday.
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Soothsayer: Tryptikon playing Celtic Frost, Abbath, Tribulation, Megadeth, Helloween, Wolfbastard... too many to name.
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first stepping stone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Soothsayer: The next step shall be recording the follow up to 'Echoes of the Earth'. It is almost time.
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Soothsayer: We shall likely be camping in somewhere in the wild... or wherever we may fall.
The Razor's Edge: You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?
Soothsayer: We keep vials of each other’s blood on us at all times to provide the adequate sustenance needed.
