Wolverhampton is a hot bed for live music these days, alongside the Black Country’s premiere music venue – KK’s Steel Mill – the Civic and Wulfrun Halls have also recently re-opened following many millions of tax payer pounds in renovations. All that means the city is now getting all of the best tours rolling through thanks to it’s plethora of live music venues.
Tonight we are at the Wulfrun Hall for a stop on Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes UK run.
The night kicked off with a lively performance by the opening act HotWax, instantly captivating the audience. Their vibrant energy and engaging stage presence had everyone up and dancing right from the start. With tracks such as ‘Phone Machine', and 'Rip It Out', HotWax showcased their dynamic musical style, leaving a lasting impression. Their infectious enthusiasm set the perfect mood, building anticipation for the electrifying main event to come.
Liverpool's own The Mysterines brought their magnetic energy to Wolverhampton as the second act on a thrilling three-band bill. Having thrown roses out to the crowd on Valentines day to start, their performance was a mesmerizing display of talent. Seamlessly blended raw rock anthems like ‘Goodbye Sunshine’ and ‘Stray’ with more introspective tracks such as ‘Begin Again’ and ‘All These Things’.
Led by the captivating Lia Metcalfe, The Mysterines commanded the stage with confidence, their electrifying show left the audience buzzing with excitement, cementing their reputation as a band to watch.
Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes wowed the Wulfrun Hall with an unforgettable Valentine's Day performance that left hearts pounding and spirits soaring. Divided into three acts, their setlist was a rollercoaster of emotions and intensity, showcasing the band's raw energy and dynamic range.
In Act I, titled "Cloudy and Pink," the band kicked off with a punch, delivering gritty anthems like ‘Can I Take You Home’ and ‘Self Love’, setting the stage for the evening's explosive energy. Act II, “Like Lightning”, unleashed a torrent of ferocity with tracks such as ‘Devil Inside Me’ and ‘Tyrant Lizard King’, captivating the audience with their relentless intensity and visceral lyrics.
Transitioning into Act III, “Redemption Arc”, the band took the crowd on a journey, delivering soul-stirring performances of songs like ‘Go Get a Tattoo’ and ‘Happier Days’. The epilogue (née encore), featuring the poignant ‘I Hate You’ and the anthemic ‘Man of the Hour’, provided a fitting conclusion to an unforgettable night of music and emotion.
