Live Review: AC/DC – Wembley Stadium, London

The greatest rock and roll band, possibly of all time, and the band who’s album influenced the name of this very website. AC/DC should need no introduction, and their epic PWR UP tour hit London this week for two sell out shows at Wembley stadium. That’s 180,000 people over two evenings packing the home of football for a band in the twilight of their career.
The iconic rock band proved once again why they are masters of their craft, delivering a setlist packed with classics and sprinkling newer songs for a career spanning set. From the moment the first note was struck to the final cannon blast, the energy was through the roof, metaphorical one of course as Wembley has no roof…
The show kicked off with ‘If You Want Blood (You've Got It)’ setting the tone for an evening of raw, unfiltered rock. The heavy riffs and powerful vocals immediately ignited the crowd, whilst Angus in his trademark school uniform strutted down the ego ramp to the delight of the baying audience.
‘Back in Black’ and ‘Thunderstruck’ were among the early highlights, with their unmistakable riffs and infectious choruses leading to massive sing-alongs. The band's tight performance and Brian Johnson's gritty vocals were on full display, demonstrating that even after decades, AC/DC still has it. Although there are hints of Brian struggling with his voice he battles through and for most his struggles go un-noticed.
Tracks like ‘Demon Fire’ and ‘Shot in the Dark’ from their latest album showed that the band isn't just resting on their laurels. These songs blended seamlessly with their classics, with their trademark sound evident throughout
Midway through, the energy peaked with a string of favourites, ‘Shoot to Thrill’, ‘Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap’ and ‘High Voltage’ stand out in an evening of out and out bangers. Angus’ boundless energy captivating the audience with every move.
The latter part of the set featured heavy hitters like ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’ and ‘Highway to Hell’, driving the crowd into a frenzy. The sing-along during ‘Whole Lotta Rosie’ was a sight to behold, with 90,000 voices in Wembley joining in unison.
As the main set concluded, the demand for more was deafening. The band returned for a powerhouse encore, starting with ‘T.N.T.’ and culminating in the explosive ‘For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)’. The thunderous cannon blasts perfectly complemented the ferocity of the performance, providing a fitting end to an unforgettable night.
