Bloodstock Bound: Them Bloody Kids
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and EMP stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Them Bloody Kids
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Them Bloody Kids: Hey there, we are Them Bloody Kids, a 4-piece Alternative Metal band hailing from London. Our frontman and rhythm guitarist Seb formed the band in 2019. Later on, we found our drummer Kell under a rock and decided he’d be a good fit. Shortly after, Calvin, our lead guitarist jumped on the bandwagon, dragging our bassist Pete along behind him in a burlap sack to form the final lineup we have today.
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your sound?
Them Bloody Kids: Drawing inspiration from iconic bands like System Of A Down, Limp Bizkit, and Rage Against The Machine, our music blends elements of Punk, Groove Metal, and Metalcore, all enriched with world-influenced riffs and melodies. Our music offers something for every Rock and Metal enthusiast.
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Them Bloody Kids: We won Metal 2 The Masses London and still can’t really believe it!
The Razor's Edge: How tough was this years M2TM competition?
Them Bloody Kids: Insanely tough! As always with this competition, particularly in London, there’s so many great bands and it’s such a strong scene. To be representing them at Bloodstock is an honour.
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Them Bloody Kids: It’s our biggest gig yet, so we’re incredibly excited but also absolutely shitting ourselves. Buzzing to have this opportunity!
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Them Bloody Kids: High-energy singalong bangers, plentiful opportunities to mosh, and Calvin’s exposed nipples. It’s a party, basically.
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Them Bloody Kids: Saturday! Keep an eye for the set time when it’s announced.
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Them Bloody Kids: Calvin: Architects. It’ll be my first time seeing them and I’ve always wanted to see how they sound live.
Pete: Flogging Molly, because Irish Folk Punk is supreme.
Seb: King Kraken! They were the non-competing headliner at our M2TM final and were sick.
Kell: Too many... Green Lung and Opeth are the ones that spring out immediately.
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Them Bloody Kids: Our new EP is coming out just before Bloodstock, and after the festival we’re going to start the writing process for our next album. Of course we have plenty of UK shows lined up, but further out in 2025 we’ve got some European shows in the pipeline too.
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Them Bloody Kids: Of course! We’re going to be in Midgard, the bin jousting capital of the world.
The Razor's Edge: It’s festival weekend, what’s your food vendor of choice on site?
Them Bloody Kids: Calvin has his eyes set on Texas Smoker, and Pete is planning to go through the entire menu at Taiga Burritos. Festival toilets hate him. Seb and Kell will be scrounging for whatever vegan food they can find, so will probably be hanging around D&J Vegan.
The Razor's Edge: See you at Bloodstock in a few weeks!
Them Bloody Kids: Can’t wait!
