Damnation Festival Make First 2020 Announcement.
US grind kings Pig Destroyer will play their first, and only, UK show in five years at Damnation Festival 2020. Pig Destroyer said:
"It's been eight long years since we've play Damnation. Unfortunately we had technical problems on stage that night so we're looking forward to 'redeeming' ourselves. It was a really good time when we played and we're excited about hanging!”
They'll share a stage with English thrash legends, Onslaught official, who will also play their only UK show of 2020 at the festival, which will be hosted at Leeds University Union on Saturday, November 7. Onslaught said:
“We are stoked to finally return to Damnation after 11 years! We recorded our very first live album ‘Live Damnation’ at Leeds in 2008 so we have some very cool memories and can’t wait to come back. Once again it will be a very special occasion for Onslaught as Damnation will be the first and exclusive UK show following the release of our new album later this year. It’s gonna be brutal, see you all in the pit!"
American doom quartet Pallbearer, death metal standouts Gatecreeper and sludge masters MORNE bolster the first batch of bands while the event's 16th edition includes the first UK show for 12 years for New York's avant-garde trio Behold... The Arctopus.
This year's event will also boast several exciting UK debuts in the shape of US thrashers, High Command, the black metal punk mayhem of Devil Master and a band earmarked to take the metal scene by storm this year, Irist
Pallbearer said of the announcement:
"We are honoured to return to the UK for the whirlwind of heavy music that is Damnation. We hope to see some old and new faces alike, and maybe we’ll play some old and new tunes for everyone."
Damnation organiser Gavin McInally also said:
"After a series of sold out events, and a tidal wave of positive feedback from last year's festival we've done everything in our power to pull together our best line-up to date. Having Pig Destroyer play for the first time since 2012, landing Onslaught's only UK show following the release of the new album and confirming favourites like Pallbearer, Gatecreeper, Morne and Behold... The Arctopus is a solid start. We're particularly buzzing to be able to offer debut shows to three excellent bands who've never been to our shores before and we expect High Command, Devil Master and Irist to play to rammed rooms come November.
This is, however, just the start of 2020. We have 18 stellar bands including four headliners to announce... and they are all top drawer. Before announcing a single band, we sold more than 150 tickets today, which is genuinely incredible. We're going to make sure we repay that trust."
Tickets are available at last year's price, £49, - for one week only - from damnationfestival.co.uk/tickets
