Dakesis To Stream 'Fractures' Album Launch Party.
In light of recent global developments, Dakesis will be performing their new album ‘Fractures’ in full as an online live-stream in place of their planned album launch at The Asylum in Birmingham, in a move to minimise social contact and the potential spread of the Coronavirus pandemic. The concert itself is being postponed until later in the year.
Their planned UK tour with Fury will also be postponed.
The statement from the band is as follows:
"It is with huge sadness that we announce that we will be forced to postpone the Fractures album launch and subsequent UK tour.
Although at this point venues in the UK haven’t been forced to close by law, the health and safety of our fans, crew, friends and support bands are of more importance than any gig, and we cannot possibly ask for you to come out to our show knowing the risks. After following the latest updates from around the world we have been preparing as much as we can to make this decision and the contingency plans that come with it.
Years of work and thousands of pounds have been poured into “Fractures”, lighting, staging and a whole rack of costumes are ready to go, thousands of pounds of merchandise are arriving by the day.
We are very grateful to have had the support from our crowdfunding campaign, as this means that we are not relying on touring income to support the release. With the support you have given us, the album will 100% be released as planned, and so long as it is possible we will be aiming to have every single item of merch posted out on time. We hope you understand that there could well be some delays involved in the production, but we will do our best to communicate those as transparently as possible if and when they arrive. Those who chose our eco-friendly option to collect from the venue will have their orders dispatched at no extra cost and we will absorb the financial implications of this ourselves. We will be in touch over the next week to personally handle this.
We are planning to live stream a performance of the new album in full on Saturday the 28th March from the stage at our studio so long as it is safe to do so and we are in talks with the venue to look at rescheduling the date for the official album launch show with a full-scale production later in the year.
All tickets for the album launch show will, of course, be valid for the rescheduled performance or transferable to other events later in the year. All ticket holders will have exclusive streaming access to the album two days before the official launch (along with everyone who donated to our crowdfunding campaign.)
We will announce rescheduled dates for the UK tour with Fury as soon as we can - they are in the exact same position as us, so please if you can support independent artists like us in any way by sharing music, buying merch, or even just holding onto your gig tickets for rescheduled dates it WILL make a difference to an independent band.
Finally, we will be hosting a live Q&A session tomorrow evening (18-03-20) at 20:00 GMT to connect with you all and answer any questions, so feel free to message us with any thoughts or queries beforehand.
Above all, stay safe, remember to wash your hands, and look after yourselves and each other.
We will join you on the other side.
Gemma, Amie, Adam, Matt & Jacob xxxx"
