DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring Trendkill

DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Trendkill

Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we found Trendkill sat on the beach. The island is far from their base, but how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil's Island?

Find out now...

Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.

So you're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

Well that's an interesting question! These are probably some answers you wouldn't expect.. Corey would take Sepultura's album 'Roots', Jonny would take 'Perpetual Burn' by Jason Becker, Isaac would take 'Remain in Light' by Talking Heads and Ali would take Megadeth's 'Rust in Peace'. I guess you could say our taste is a bit mixed haha. I guess the reason we'd take these specific albums is because they resonate with us individually in one way or another, or just cause they're bangin' albums.

Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?

Ooh another interesting one, so Corey would take Mastodon's 'Once More Around the Sun' cover (because its proper weird) Jonny would take Sabbaths 'Paranoid' artwork because of the trippy knight in it, Alistair would take Maidens 'Number of the Beast' artwork because its the first piece of heavy metal artwork he laid eyes upon and Isaac would take Pantera's alternate version of 'Far Beyond Driven'.

There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?

Well now you're speaking our language, can't forget the booze. In TrendKill we're normally just beer drinkers but i guess if were on a desert island you want something that's a bit more interesting. Ali would take some JD, Isaac would have some Old Mout Strawberry and Pomegranate Cider, Jonny wants some of the good old Newcy Brown and Corey would take some Heineken for good measure.

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?

Does this mean we're all going to be on a desert island with only one piece of clothing each? Bit of an interesting thought haha. Isaac would take the Brojob Butt plug.... Corey would take his TrendKill Shorts, Jonny would take the Cannibal Corpse Blast beat Vibrator and Ali would take his his Megadeth 25th anniversary t-shirt he got at Sonisphere.

You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?

Well Corey would take Mario Duplantier from Gojira, Jonny of course would take the mighty Dimebag, Isaac would take the legend that is Cliff Burton and Ali would have good old Mega Dave.

There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

I guess this would have to be Metallica's 1989 Seattle set. That’s just absolutely one of the most powerful sets you'll ever see and it just never gets old no matter how much you watch it.

You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

Well it definitely wouldn't be Ozzy, he'd probably forget haha. Maybe James Hetfield? He seems really level headed now, or possibly MegaDave since he's a Christian and they're practically contractually obliged to help people.

You've been stuck here for a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

Definitely Isaac he's a big lad and definitely carry the most muscle, plus the blubber he does have we can use for fuel for the fire. Im sure he wouldn't mind, he always said he'd never make it past 25 anyway.

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

Probably James Hetfield, the guys influenced me in so many ways with his personal life and his musical career, such a nice guy too. I think it'd be the same for so many musicians especially in the metal community since he's done so much.
