Bloodstock Bound: Outergds
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and Jägermeister stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Outergods!
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Outergods: I (Nathe) play guitar and do all the electronic/noise stuff. Sam is the vocalist, Jordan is on drums, Alex is on second guitar and Dan is on bass.
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your style of metal?
Outergods: I’d say it’s a mix of death and black metal, with some elements of grindcore..
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Outergods: We reached out to Simon as he’s familiar with some of us from our other bands. He checked out our debut, liked what he heard and offered us a slot.
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Outergods: For me personally it’s a bucket list item. I’ve wanted to play Bloodstock since I first picked up a flyer for the festival when I was in Reveal Records in Derby (unfortunately this shop closed a few years later). I think the flyer was for the second Bloodstock, which would’ve been in 2002. Since then, it’s been a festival I’ve always wanted to play.
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Outergods: They’ll be subjected to abrasive and chaotic noises for 30 minutes, but it’ll be worth it.
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Outergods: We’re playing Sunday the 13th of Aug.
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Outergods: There are so many, but some of the bands we’ll be checking out are Megadeth, Helloween, Decapitated, In Flames, Meshuggah, Killswitch Engage, Gatecreeper, Sepultura, Candlemass, Frozen Soul and Biohazard!
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first stepping stone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Outergods: We recently signed to Prosthetic Records and our debut album is out on 1st September. We also have a short run of shows at the beginning of September. Outside of this, we’ll be booking more gigs and demoing album two.
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Outergods: I think all of us will be camping in standard camping.
The Razor's Edge: You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?
Outergods: For me, as I don’t drink alcohol, it’ll be just water and (if I can get hold of it) Dr Pepper. Maybe even a lemonade on the rocks if I’m feeling daring. I’m hoping to scope out a nice array of non-alcoholic beers, though.
