Bloodstock Bound: Moon Sentient

Today we chat with Sentient!

Sentient:

- Joe “JB” Burton AKA Jose AKA Smokin Joe Frazier – Vocals

- Ricky Kennelly AKA Enrique AKA Ricky Martin – Drums

- Tom Morton AKA Tito AKA Tito Jackson – Guitar

- Charlie Trigg AKA Carlos AKA Charlie Murphy – Bass

The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your style of metal?

Sentient: Heavy Spaghetti = noodly riffs and beefy breakdowns served by Randy Blythe with a cold
- FFO Meshuggah, Fit For An Autopsy, Lamb of God, Machine Head, Sikth

The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?

Sentient: M2TM Hitchin.

The Razor's Edge: How tough was the competition this year?

Sentient: The competition was fierce this year. The calibre of competing acts was absolutely ferocious. There were a few sticky moments and some hard times but we managed to rise to the occasion. It was great to see bands who have competed before who have stepped up, and also new bands coming through.

The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?

Sentient: It's a culmination of the work we've put into this band & the recognition that people seem to dig it. It's the opportunity to play in front of a monster crowd that still doesn’t seem real.

The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?

Sentient: Radical Riffs & Bodacious Beats. Lots of energy with plenty of opportunities for crowd participation, including but not limited to Sing alongs & circle pits.

Bloodstock Bound: Sentient

The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?

Sentient: We’ll be playing the New Blood Stage on Sunday. Sunday the 13th. Lazy Sunday. Wake up in the late afternoon, call up the boys to see how they doin.
What up boys, yo JB what’s cracking,
You thinking what I’m thinking, New Blood Stage, man it’s happenin.

The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?

Sentient:

- Killswitch Engage
- Heaven Shall Burn
- Fit For An Autopsy
- Meshuggah
- Knocked Loose
- Crowbar
- Megadeth
- Sepultura
- Ugly Kid Joe
- Decapitated
- In Flame
- InVisions

The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first stepping stone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?

Sentient: Just get on stage as much as possible in front of new crowds. Then the Sophie stage. Then the Main Stage. Release our second EP later this year & get on tour.

The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?

Sentient: We’ll be all over the festival. All the campsites and all the stages. We’re like the wind or those disposable cups you see people picking up to return for change.

The Razor's Edge: You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?

Sentient: Whatever is announced as the winner of the Bloodstock Cocktail competition...when in Rome. Plus a healthy dose of Monster energy to give us that boost before we go on stage. Playing on Sunday, imagine we are Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction, and we have John Travolta above us with an adrenaline needle...the Monster is the needle.
