DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring Radioactive Pineapple

DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Blackened Rose

Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we find Radioactive Pineapple sat on the beach. The island is far from their home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil's Island?

Find out now...

Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.

You're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

Ozzie: Wolves in Wolves’ Clothing by Nofx. I have so many good memories of this album. I found it in a library when I was like 15-16. It was one of those moments when everything just clicks into place and feels right.

Thoubi: Letlive. - If I’m The Devil. It’s just my all time favorite album. Needs a full listening session though, the songs alone don’t do the album justice.

Jake: Dude Ranch by Blink-182. No need to explain, it’s just the perfect pop punk -album. Also one of my few CDs my mother’s Volvo hasn’t scratched.

Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?

Ozzie: From Here to Infirmary by Alkaline Trio. It might not be the best looking cover art possible, but it gives me great memories and it reminds me of how I basically ripped off the song structures from them. Haha!

Thoubi: Beartooth - Sunshine! single cover art. The upside down smiling sun just matches my mood every day.

Jake: 21st Century Breakdown by Green Day. It was one of the first albums I ever listened to and from day one I thought the art was really cool, urban vibe and so.

There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?

Ozzie: Can’t go wrong with Lager!

Thoubi: Mojitos. There’s just something about them. Gets me super fucked up though but doesn’t matter here

Jake: Some DIPA or TIPA. High percentage but also a lot to drink. A good choice when you’re in a hot climate with nothing else to do.

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?

Ozzie: Punk In Druplic tour hoodie! It’s going to get hot with that thing on, but it’s the best piece of merch that i’ve got! It was supposed to cost like 40 euros with an extra 5 euro fee because I used my card. But because the math was done by a punk he instead charged me 35 euros. HAHAHA!

Thoubi: My Mouhous sweatshirt. It’s the best 60€ I’ve spent in clothing

Jake: If it has to be band merch, I’ll pick my Atomirotta T-shirt since it’s probably in the best shape of all my band merch. But if any merch is permitted, then I’ll go with my AS Roma scarf which I bought at Stadio Olimpico in ’07, so it has high sentimental value.

You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?

Ozzie: I know it’s icky, cute, and probably makes you vomit. But I’ll pick my girlfriend.

Thoubi: My girlfriend.

Jake: My cats. At least they could eat me when I lose my will to live. And maybe my girlfriend. She could eat me too.

DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring Radioactive Pineapple

There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

Ozzie: It’s going to be Green Day’s Woodstock show from the year 1994. “don’t wanna be a mud hippie! like youuuuuuuu!”

Thoubi: Linkin Park's last live show before Chester Bennington's passing

Jake: Some old-school Green Day or Blink-182 -set. One of those on Youtube with terrible quality but obviously without video. Genuine shit and so, you know.

You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

Ozzie: It would be pretty cool to send a message to Fat Mike from Nofx. I don’t think that would help me though....

Thoubi: Whoever wrote Zebraheads “Rescue Me”.

Jake: Juha Nummela from Amanita Story / Vaatturi & Myyjät. He’s been kind enough to drive me around a lot so I think if the price is right he would arrange a helicopter if necessary.

You've been stuck here for a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

Ozzie: KILL EM ALL! MUAHAHAAHAHA! Survival of the fattest! It’s time to release all that pent up resentment!

Thoubi: Me

Jake: Me. I’ve got more to eat than Thoubi and if you eat my liver you’ll get drunk.

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

Ozzie: That would be Mike Ness from Social Distortion. He’s just so fucking cool!

Thoubi: Loniel Robinson, former drummer of Letlive.

Jake: Rane from Atomirotta (and formerly Smack). He taught me to play the guitar and made me believe in my skills so that I could be in a band one day. I probably wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for his guitar lessons.
