Album Review: Slug Gore – They Slime! They Ooze! They Kill!

Coming from Italy one of the finest creators of underground bands Slug Gore are a relatively new band who have been active since 2022 and They Slime! They Ooze! They Kill! will be the band's second release and first full length record.
They Slime! They Ooze! They Kill! Is a record with a really great and fun identity. Taking a variety of influences and sounds from a wide range of underground music, you get your more death metal sounding areas then it will drop into your more groovy hardcore two step sound but the real key element to the bands sound would be the more groovy European grind sound similar to someone like Birdflesh as an example and it really works fantastically to create this seventeen minute sprint of fury which the band describe as demented fight music.
With a total of twelve tracks this album really just flies through and is such a fun listen as the Italian band brings its creation to life. The main plus I find is these tracks just attack you, outside of the albums electronic intro they come out full steam ahead going with a totally zero bullshit approach which is great fun. The guitars and drums sound really thick and solid which really is aided by the punchy flow of the record.
They Slime! They Ooze! They Kill! is a very entertaining and very fun slab of grindcore which is full of really cool riffs and frantic mayhem. What I feel will be even better than the record itself is I feel these tracks will come across so much better in a live environment as you can really hear that great energy in the album. It might be just seventeen minutes of music but it's seventeen minutes that certainly will not cheat the listener.
