Bloodstock Bound: Lowdown
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and EMP stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Lowdown
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Lowdown: Dave Runham - Lead vocals and guitars
Ant Pinnell - Guitars and backing vocals
Richard Emms - Drums
Kev Smart - Bass and part-time backing vocals
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your sound?
Lowdown: A fusion of doom-laced chords with searing down-tuned riffs and pinch harmonics ricocheting through the air like battle cries!
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Lowdown: Finalists two years running in M2TM (Hitchin). Performance in M2TM 2024 Final noted by Bloodstock judges, and invited to play.
The Razor's Edge: How tough was the M2TM competition this year?
Lowdown: M2TM is always tough, and at M2TM (Hitchin) we have been lucky enough to share a stage with some great bands like Sentient (winners 2023) and Dead Flesh (winners 2024). We were proud to guest headline a heat in 2025. It's a fantastic competition that we are happy to have been part of.
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Lowdown: Everything!
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Lowdown: High octane, heavy riffing metal, that draws inspiration from the crushing grooves of Black Label Society; the soaring melodies of Alter Bridge; the raw aggression of Pantera; and the ominous weight of Black Sabbath! Our motto is simple: All Hail The Riff!! #AHTR

The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Lowdown: Friday 8th August
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Lowdown: Famyne, Cage Fight, Trivium, Gojira, Machine Head, Fear Factory, Mastodon, Nailbomb.
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Lowdown: So far, our gigs have been in the South East of England, at venues ranging from Northampton to Canterbury. We’d love to branch out and play further afield, maybe taking in a tour of Britain or Europe. We’re hoping to get some dates in the Netherlands and Sweden in 2026.
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Lowdown: Mixed!! Some are, some aren't!
The Razor's Edge: You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?
Lowdown: Beer!! Always remember, it's only 5% less water than water 😉
The Razor's Edge: See you at Bloodstock in a few weeks!
Lowdown: See you there! Really looking forward to it!
