Bloodstock Bound: Rites To Ruin

As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and EMP stages at this years event.

Today we chat with Rites To Ruin

The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.

Rites To Ruin: Fronted by vocal powerhouse Krissie Kirby (Triaxis), Rites to Ruin are a five piece heavy metal band based in South Wales and West of England. With Matt Chambers (Triaxis, In the Absence of Light) & Lee Cartner on guitar, Paul Boschen (Burn thy Enemy) on bass and Zak Skane currently on loan from Democratus on drums.

The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your sound?

Rites To Ruin: Rites to Ruin are traditional heavy metal at its finest with a modern twist, offering a distinct slice of NWOBHM promising a loud sound that will have you head banging in seconds.

The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?

Rites To Ruin: We were invited to play by Simon Hall. Naturally we said yes within a nano second of being asked.

The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?

Rites To Ruin: It is an honour to be playing Bloodstock, having been punters ourselves for many years! Krissie has performed on all but the main stage in previous years with Triaxis, but for the rest of us this will be an awesome experience to be a part of the best UK metal festival!

The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?

Rites To Ruin: They can expect our straight up heavy metal, with soaring vocals that will get heads moving! We'll be playing a lot of the new tracks from our new album - Daughter of Hatred - which is out on June 30th!

The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?

Rites To Ruin: You can catch us on the EMP stage on the Saturday!

The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?

Rites To Ruin: Machine Head, Fear Factory, Static X, Mastodon, Lacuna Coil and Gojira will have us rocking out! We're also looking forward to sets from our friends in Maatkaare, Ofnus, and Fortune Teller! To be fair, it's such a good lineup again that we'll be busy trying to catch everyone else!

The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?

Rites To Ruin: As said previously, we're just releasing our first full length album at the end of June, so pushing that as much as possible, we'll be continuing to fill our diary with gig dates across the country, and hopefully aim for more festival dates in 2026! Around that we'll also be back to writing mode to begin the process for album #2!

The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?

Rites To Ruin: We've decided to stay offsite in a hotel, purely so we're fresh as daisies for our set to give 100% (long gone are the days of being able to perform after crawling out of a tent hungover!) However, Midguard would be the campsite of choice, unless it's Krissie who traditionally camps VIP, and we will be popping along to catch up with friends and others over the weekend!

The Razor's Edge: You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?

Rites To Ruin: Water mainly! although there will be a few cheeky mango ciders consumed after our set if it doesn't sell out before then!
