DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Inhuman Condition
Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.
This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we found Taylor from death metal super-group Inhuman Condition sat on the beach. The island is far from their base, but how did he end up here and how did he cope with life on Devil's Island?

Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.
So you're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?
I would probably have to say the first/self-titled Aerosmith album. Yes, I’ve heard it 1 million times, but it never gets old! No duds, no snoozers, it’s nothing but amazing start to finish. The production is fantastic, the guitar tones are pretty heavy and gnarly, the song-writing is pretty simple and catchy. Yep, that album.
Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?
I would hang up my poster of “Lovecraft’s Nightmare” by Michael Whelan. I think it might be my favorite painting of all time. It’s so mesmerising and terrifying. Also part of it was used for Obituary’s “Cause of Death” album, which is one of my favourites of all time.
There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?
Cashew milk! I don’t really drink anymore so ideally I would be able to drink vanilla cashew milk for the rest of my stay. It’s the greatest liquid.
Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?
I would say Ed Force One… the plane of Iron Maiden. Ok, ok, “real” answers only. I have a big bandana I got at my first concert ever which was Aerosmith when I was 12. It probably won’t get me much use, other than keeping the sun off of me, but I have it hanging up and it reminds me of where it all started.
You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?
Honestly, I’d be totally fine hanging with Jeramie and Terry. I’ve lived with Jeramie for over 6 years and Terry is one of the nicest humans on Earth, so I think that’d be okay. I’m an eagle scout so we would probably survive, but it would be helpful to have Bear Grylls there…
There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?
If it was a show that I’ve seen, maybe the gig I saw of Alice In Chains a few years ago. One of the best rock shows I’ve ever been to. But any live album? Aerosmith - “Live Bootleg”.
You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?
Well it would be logical to write the message to Sting, because if anyone knows anything about messages in bottles, it’s that man. Plus, he probably has a helicopter or something that would come get us.
You've been stuck here for a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?
Oh dang! Well I suppose that would have to be a unanimous decision or it could get ugly. I would sacrifice myself, but I’m mostly skin and bones…
Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?
Not to be sappy, but honestly I think Jeramie has influenced my career the most. He’s my brother from another mother and father, and we’ve been building our individual careers through the ups and downs together for the last 12 years. Outside that, I think Frank Zappa has been pretty influential in how to present yourself as an artist. That was one dude who really didn’t give a shit what anyone thought, and was also beyond talented and driven, and determined to do his own thing, his own way. I think it’s motivating to see bands where there is a driving force, whether that’s one person or two people, etc.
