The Road To ManorFest 2022!

The Road To ManorFest 2022!

ManorFest… it seems like an age since we here at The Razor’s Edge started planning our coverage of the latest edition of the festival. Indeed looking back, it has been an age. The first announcement of the 2020 edition of the festival was back in June 2019 when Lawnmower Deth were announced. After that Visigoth, Rotting Christ and Memoriam all got added amongst others. Of course, that would all fall by the wayside thanks to COVID, the 2021 edition of the festival also just missed the cut in terms of post-COVID restrictions, hence the 2022 edition can’t come soon enough – the first ManorFest in three years!

A lot has changed since that first announcement, the big one being the change of venue! Moving away from the North for the first time this years event takes place at Whittlebury Park, Towcaster – for those looking for a reference point, it is the field across the road from Silverstone! The second big change is of course that this years event switches to three days and is the first outdoor ManorFest event. Despite the delays, Wayne Jackson and his team have managed to keep many of the bands originally announced in 2020 on the bill – including the likes of Lawnmower Deth, Rotting Christ and Memoriam whilst adding a slew of other bands as well.

What out Grandma... here's comes Lawnmower Deth!

The festival kicks off on May 27th with a nice compact bill for the Friday. The campsite opens at 9am for all you happy campers whilst the festival arena itself is open from 2pm, so plenty of time to pitch your tent, sit back and relax in the Northamptonshire sun with a few cold beers. The festival is opened by Wycthhazel followed by the critically acclaimed Urne. Then it’s time for the big guns with Moonspell a late addition to the festival coming in off the back of a UK tour with Paradise Lost this past February. Then we have the fury of Overkill and German metal overlords Accept to round out the opening night.

Saturday ramps things up with two full stages of awesomeness. Asomvel and Son of Boar all highlights early doors on the day. We can guarantee Party Cannon will be a band to watch, their brutal slam with a party atmosphere a must see. Look out for many inflatables, and a raft of crowd surfers as the day gets going!

Birmingham’s finest death metallers Memoriam pop by whilst Lawnmower Deth – who released a contender for album of the year in January – will also put in a special appearance… WATCH OUT GRANDMA! Then it’s time for the Saturday big guns… Eternal Champion, Borknager and special headliners Candlemass promise a doom laden end to the evening.

Candlemass set to close out Saturday @ Manorfest

The festival wraps on Sunday with another stunning line up. Lifer, Ten Ton Slug and Damnation’s Hammer all bring an element of heavy doom infused music which Luna’s Call will mix it up a bit with their expansive sound. Corby brusiers Raging Speedhorn are always a sight to behold and The Razor’s Edge favourites will bring their mayhem to the festival stage once more.

The big guns wrapping up the festival include a rare UK appearance from Cirith Ungol, a set we recommend you see as it’s not likely you’ll see this band often. Following on is the darkened goodness of My Dying Bride and original 2020 headliners Rotting Christ.

All of this is set of the backdrop of Whittlebury Hall, its sweeping landscapes and historic hotel.

Tickets are selling fast and there’s just two weeks to go. Do yourselves a favour and book yourselves in now!
