Damnation Festival Add A Special Akercocke Performance to Friday Nights Salvation!
Following the successful move to the BEC Arena for Damnation Festival in 2022, the festival is expanding yet further with a 15 band, three stage bill on Friday night to accompany Saturdays main event.
Today they add a very special performance to that Friday night line up!
Akercocke will perform blackened death metal masterpiece Choronzon in full at Damnation's A Night of Salvation event.
The headline set, on the Cult Never Dies Stage, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the album, and will be hosted at BEC Arena, Manchester, on Friday 3rd November.
Choronzon is the second of 15 sets to be announced, following the return of Viking Skull, who'll mark the 20th anniversary of their hard rock stomper, Chapter One.
Akercocke's Jason Mendonca said:
"We are thrilled to be gracing the Damnation stage once again. Relearning one of our most brutal albums will be an absolute pleasure."
Organiser Gavin McInally added:
"Akercocke's Goat of Mendes set was a genuine 'I was there' moment and since then we've had 2023 circled as the chance to go one better and land the live airing of what many consider their finest hour, Choronzon.
"We'd argue that the Chapter One and Choronzon sets are already worth the price of admission, but fortunately we don't have to as there's another 13 bands to come, and then Damnation itself which will be stacked top to bottom with UK exclusive performances."

The announcement comes fresh off the back of Viking Skull's return being announced last week.
"Heavier than a death in the family and with more hooks than a fishing tackle shop..."
Viking Skull are back, and they'll pillage proceedings at A Night of Salvation, on the Pins & Knuckles stage as the first of 15 bands confirmed for a very special prelude to Damnation 2023 this November.
The band said:
"We're coming for you with our whiskey-swigging, bar-room-brawling, southern baked big riffs to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our 11/10 rated debut, Chapter One.
"We'll be there to 'Pillage and Burn', so bring all your 'Beer, Drugs and Bitches!'"
14 more bands (and headliners), across three stages, including a black metal focused Cult Never Dies Stage and Church Road Records stage, to be announced.
