Release Round Up - April 9th, 2021
Every Friday there is a tidal wave of new music released unto the world. Whilst we try to cover as much as possible here at The Razor's Edge, it's not always possible to review everything. So each week on a Friday we'll round up some of the best new music available, some we've reviewed, some we haven't, but all worth checking out!
Theres a lot of new heavy music hitting the airwaves this week, everything from black metal, death metal, gothic metal, Stoner rock, doom, thrash metal and even some of your traditional heavy fuckin' metal!
Here's what we think you should check out today!
Teutonic machine that is Primal Fear follow up last years album with a new E.P. today, featuring Tarja Turunen.

The Treatment return this week, the classic rockers firing out 'Waiting For Good Luck', via Frontiers Music.

Soothsayer meld atmospherics with their blend of doom and sludge on their debut album 'Echoes of the Earth' which drops today.
"There is an unearthly haunting element to Soothsayers type of sludge doom, and it’s a welcome one. Musically it is never just one genre and vocally it is always impressive and intoxicating. A debut album of this high quality bodes well for this band."

Following the recent postponement of their scheduled performance at Download Festival UK this coming June, Dead Label release their first new music of 2021. E.P. 'Anthology' is available now! And watch the lyric video for 'Deadweight' below.
For all the out and out heavy metal fans, there are few releases to feed into your ears! Ornimental rreleased 'Red, White, ...And Wrath' earlier this week. Johan Kihlberg's Impera release 'Spirit of Alchemy' and Hellamor and Red Stone Chapel release a split album 'Major League Heavy Rock'. And if you like your music hooror inspired then check out 'Skin Show' from The Lions Daughter.
The Medea Project's latest EP, Southern Echoes is something different and special, containing songs that were played at a live-in-the-studio set for the online event, Metal4Africa Summerfest ’21 in January of this year.

For black metal fans there are a glut of new releases this week, as there are every week in the metal worlds busiest genre! Antrisch release 'Expedition I : Dissonanzgrat', Forsman drop 'Dönsum i Logans Ljóma' (try saying that when drunk) and Niht release 'Arcanum'. Pyriphlegethon release the gloriously titled 'Gales of Atrocious Whispering' and The Black Mysteries win longest album title of the week with 'And The Opening of Shadowy Sepulchre that Yawns Behind It'.
And if you like to mix you black and death metal into a melting pot of atrocities then Goath release 'III: Shaped By The Unlight' and Saille drop 'V'.
The UK Thrashers facebook community has, for the second year, put together a compilation of some of the best in British thrash across a two CD release, all raising money for homeless charity Shelter.
The two cd set features the likes of Acid For Blood, Ashen Crown, Blacklist, Day Of Wrath, Dead Before Mourning, Decimator, Dislocator, Dissension, Elyrean, Elimination, Hellfekted, Ifreann, Imperium, In Which It Burns, Incinery, Night Fighter, Novichok, Sawticide, Scarred By Truth, Sepulchre, Sidewinder, Solitary, Steel Mage, Suicide Watch, Tempashot, Thrasherwolf, Thrashsquatch and Tortured Demon.

On the death metal front this week we have new music from Exterminated in 'The Genesis of Genocide' and Phlebotomized in the form of 'Pain, Resistance, Suffering'.
And if you like a bit of extreme grind then look further than Onchocerciasis Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (yes that really is the bands name) with their album 'The Rotted Plinth Of Sachiel'.
'Hellbreaker' is the new studio album from German pedal to the metal rockers Motorjesus.
"It is a contemporary hard rocking sound but the influences of classic hard rock and heavy metal permeates throughout. There is a nice balance between hard rocking riffage, driving rhythm and huge melodic hooks."
